“Parusha” an annual fair at Sri Nagalamadaka Subramanya Swami temple

Every year a 5-day festival (Parusha) is celebrated in Nagalamadaka in the month of Pushya, from Shuddha Panchami to Shuddha Navami.

Since many years, Sri Subramanya Swami’s Brahma Ratotsava is celebrated on “Pushya Shuddha Shashti Day”, called “Parusha”. During this time a lot of devotees come to Nagalamadaka, from far and near to witness this annual celebration. The banks of the Pinakini River and the temple are adorned with lights. As Ratotsava was attracting huge crowds of people, Dhanagala Jatra was added with this Parusha, which runs for 10 days after Ratotsava.

As per tradition, our ancestors have always organised Parusha on a grand scale, complete with housing facilities for the devotees, annadhanam and distribution of clothes and other necessities to the needy. This year, a newly constituted management with trust name Nagalamadaka Subramanya Vasavi Charitable Trust (NSVCT) is reviving the grand scale of this festival, conducting it in all its glory over 5 days.

We are honoured to invite you all to Nagalamadaka for Parusha!
